María Gómez, RavenPack´s Head of Data Engineering, wins Data science professional of the year award

María Gómez, RavenPack’s Head of Data Engineering, has won the Data Science Professional of the Year award from the Women in Technology and Data Awards 2023 , which aims to recognise and promote women who occupy technology and data roles across the capital markets.

After doing a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Lille and finishing her postdoctoral research in France and Germany, María joined RavenPack as a Data Scientist, in 2018.

Now, as Vice President and Head of Data Engineering, she plays a key role in building the research infrastructure that supports a team of 12 quantitative researchers across multiple locations within RavenPack. Using this infrastructure, these data scientists published over 10 research papers in 2022 alone, covering topics from nowcasting Inflation or GDP, to workforce intelligence or ESG controversies. By making structured data available at scale in a seamless experience, Maria’s team empowers organizations to make optimal and more sustainable decisions.

Accepting the recognition at the awards ceremony event in London, María said:
